“A good way to rid one’s self of a sense of discomfort is to do something. That uneasy, dissatisfied feeling is actual force vibrating out of order; it may be turned to practical account by giving proper expression to its creative character.”
― William Morris

Hi there! I’m Charlotte!
Thank you for visiting my page. I have always been a creative person, and for most of my life that creativity was expressed through music (I play the flute), sewing, and writing. Then I added cross stitching, cooking, and child-rearing (an extremely creative endeavor). Now, I’m a surface pattern designer, and I absolutely adore creating beautiful designs for fabrics and other items.
My journey has included earning a BSE in materials science and engineering, as well as a MEd, in special education. I’ve worked as a technical writer for AT&T/Bell Labs, an engineer for Motorola, owned my own business in formalwear alterations, and most recently taught special education in a high school. I also raised and homeschooled my two daughters, one of whom is special needs. During all of this my creativity insisted on entwining itself throughout.
That’s why I call my business Whatever She Pleases – I have to go where my creativity leads, and I think I’ve finally found a way to make it all work together. My main goal is to obtain licensing for my designs, but to include my other pursuits as well.
After having lived in Arizona, Ohio, Virginia, South Carolina, Wyoming, and Colorado, we’re back in AZ – where I live with my husband and one of my daughters. This is where we hope to stay, close to the Catalina Mountains, watching the quail, lizards, hawks, dove, and bunnies go about their business. Some day, I hope to have ducks!
If you’d like to keep up with the goings-on at WhateverShePleases, join my mailing list! You’ll get only occasional updates on new designs, books, charts, etc. As a thank you for joining, you can download my Free 22-page step-by-step Copyright Guide.
